A well-known resident of Douglas County and a Spanish-American War veteran. He was born in London, England, on Nov. 5, 1876, and came to Canada at the age of 14. Four years later he moved to Boston, Mass, He served in the Spanish-American war and in the Philippine insurrection from 1899 to 1901. Following the war, he made his home in San Francisco until 1906, when he came to Oregon to make his home at Bandon. He was married at Coquille on June 21, 1907, to Leona Jones. In 1928 he moved to Douglas County to make his home. He was a member of the Spanish-American War Veterans and of the Church of God.
